Bill Gates and Hu in the gaze of the mighty Thought-o-Tronic
Regular readers will know that Imagethief in his spare time recently invented a device called the Mighty Thought-o-Tronic that can read the thoughts of people in news photographs. I use this device sparingly because it has the potential to be extremely annoying, but I couldn’t help but be tempted after stumbling on today’s China Daily story about President Hu Jintao’s meeting with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. Here is what it revealed:

Fascinating. In fact, it may have been pointless to use the Mighty Thought-o-Tronic, as what was actually said was as surreal as anything it could have revealed:
“Because you, Mr. Bill Gates, are a friend of China, I’m a friend of Microsoft,” [said Hu Jintao].
“Also, I am dealing with the operating system produced by Microsoft every day,” he added, to laughter.
Insert your own joke here. Nevertheless, this is a spectacular turn of affairs for Microsoft, which has had a resurgence in China over the past year or two after many years of not being able to get its phone calls returned.
Since I took the time to activate the Thought-o-Tronic and turn it on the China Daily, I could’t switch it off without giving it a crack at this photo of Big Don Rumsfeld, which I found in an inexplicably bizarre Rumsfeld photo spread, featuring five pages of Rumsfeld photos. Some of you may be following the recent calls from retired US generals for Rumsfeld to resign. Let’s see how Don is responding:

Kind of predictable, really
