Fans of the 49ers might take special interest in the condos at Candlestick Point — the Cove in San Francisco.

Its five four-story buildings are so close to the football team’s stadium, Monster Park, that someone with an oversize periscope in the closest building could probably see right onto the playing field. With the windows open, anyone nearby will hear the crowd cheering (or booing).

Ticketholders don’t have to worry about parking, as residents’ cars will be tucked away in the one or two underground spaces allotted to each unit.

Of course, traffic can be an issue on game days, but Candlestick Point — the Cove is a gated community on private streets.

Even those who aren’t Niners fans will most certainly enjoy the views of San Francisco Bay, San Bruno Mountain and the Peninsula, for the bay and Candlestick Point Recreation Area are just a few steps away. The recreation area has picnic areas, two fishing piers, hiking and biking trails, and a fitness course plus opportunities for boating, windsurfing and bird watching.

Built by Top Vision Development of San Francisco, Candlestick Point — the Cove includes two buildings that were built in 2001. These 128 units were initially rented but then were sold as condos in 2004 and 2005.

Three more buildings with a total of 176 units are under construction with the first units expected to be ready for occupancy this month.

The developer wants to build some taller buildings on the site, but those plans have not been submitted to city officials for approval, a sales agent said.

Meantime, Signature Properties is building condos and townhouses just west of Candlestick Point — the Cove, and another developer is eyeing land to the east. Just to the north, plans are under way to redevelop the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

All that development could bring shopping areas closer to the project. For now, residents will have to travel a mile or more to find grocery stores, restaurants and other services.

A BART shuttle is available, and the Bayshore Caltrain station is within walking distance. Bus lines are nearby, as is Muni’s Third Street light rail extension, which has not yet opened.

The condos range from a one-bedroom, one-bath, 800-square-foot unit for $399,000 or $435,000 to a three-bedroom, two-bath, 1,400-square-foot unit for $640,000 or $685,000.

The project also has three two-bedroom, two-bath floor plans with 875 to 1,150 square feet and prices of $514,000 to $605,000.

Prices depend in part on location. Some units look out on the steeply cut hill behind the project.

The three-bedroom, two-bath Half Moon Bay is the largest plan. Its foyer angles into the kitchen and living room, which are separated by an island. Next to the kitchen is a nook for informal dining.

A niche in the living room would be a good spot for a buffet, a media center or even an electric fireplace.

A small deck opens off the living room. If the unit is on the first floor, however, the deck extends from one of the smaller bedrooms, past the dining nook and along the living room.

The master bedroom is off the living room. Its bathroom is relatively compact with a double sink, a shower stall, a toilet and a walk-in closet.

The other two bedrooms are on the other side of the unit with a full bathroom between them. One bedroom overlooks the bay or hill, while the other overlooks the interior courtyard. Both have mirrored closet doors.

Also in this area is a laundry closet for stackable washer and dryer (not included).

The kitchen and bathrooms have granite counters.

Homeowner dues for this unit are $394.29 a month, which includes 24-hour security, water, trash, sewer, hot water and use of fitness the center. Homeowners pay for their electricity, which powers forced-air heaters in each room.
