1) 90% of people are poor minded. Poor mindedness is the default state. It’s the natural comfort zone. It’s the animal instinct to find comfort zone and avoid taking risks. That’s human nature. Being poor minded is fine, you simply are parts of the majority people. Don’t feel bad.
2) To get rich, you must feel the hunger to get rich. You must feel the urgency. Having 1M in mutual fund and 0.5M in housing equity is a great achievement. However, the bad part is that all you have accumulated using your flesh and blood, rather than using other people’s power. $1M in mutual fund is simply pure cash that can only earn 5-20% return a year on itself depending on how well the stock market behaves. This is not leverage. The bad part of in this state is that it may very easily reduce your hunger to get richer. This state of being is simply TOO COMFORTABLE to you. Most people stopped there, thinking that they will be fine with everything in auto-pilot, no more work from now on. We can fish every weekend in Ocean City and enjoy life. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I bet 90% of people are doing exactly that, yet they don’t yet have 1M in mutual fund. Some people have 200K or less in mutual fund, they already feel very comfortable, especially after plugging a 10% stock market return rate over 10-20 years, they are seeing a 1M or 2M future unfolding in front of them. The bottomline is, this mindset is very intoxinating and self-assuring that almost certainly will knock out all your hunger to get richer. This is a case of poor mindedness.
3) Getting rich and using other people mind is definitely not in anyone’s comfortable zone. In fact, if you are controlling 1 million other people’s money, you may be sleepless at the debt level. Without a hunger to get rich, you can’t put up with that kind of stress. The psychological stress of owing high debt may sometimes be more pressing than anything else. A lot of people don’t mind working overtime and weekend for their bosses. The work stress never bother them. But when it comes to psychological pressure, they often succumb.
4) That’s why not everybody can have a rich mindset, just like not everybody can become a truly rich people. I do have lots of rich mind set. But I am not rich. I may not get very rich one day. But I firmly believe that in order to get out of the middle class cage that locked us in, the prime priority is not go ahead and find a second job, the prime priority is to acquire a rich mindset.
5) We have to understand that nobody in this world will require you to get rich. This is not a requirement at all. The urge to get rich has to come from inside of you. If you think this is meanless, just let it be, find a comfortable job, go fishing on the weekend, enjoy life. To some people, this is more important, it’s perfectly okay.
